NAPT Unveils New Website
NAPT has unveiled a new website to aid filmmakers with production resources and PBS viewers with what's currently on public television. The new site also allows filmmakers and musicians with a venue to post their latest work, among other features.
The new home page with a fresh look and new logos also places all of NAPT's products and services--AIROS.org and VisionMaker Video--under one umbrella to create a more uniform and consistent image of NAPT products.
"Many of the producers that I talk to are excited about how the list of Native media makers will grow as more and more Native American directors, producers, writers, etc., sign up for the site. Many say 'We've needed this for years. This is really going to help when I'm looking to hire Native people for my next production,'" said Eric Martin, NAPT's interactive media specialist.
"Instead of asking people to fill out an about me section on our site, we ask them their story," Martin added. "This is keeping in line with our mission statement, 'NAPT shares Native stories with the world' and is also pointing out that all Native people have a story to share whether they are filmmakers, actors, teachers, car mechanics or unemployed."
The site also contains new links such as "What's On TV?" that allow PBS watchers to find out the latest NAPT-funded shows on TV. The "Coming Attractions" link lets TV viewers see what's currently in production. A link for "Media Makers" allows musicians and filmmakers to share video and audio, as well as personal blogs.
NAPT will retire the VisionMaker logo with the Indian with the headdress and instead make the words "VisionMaker Video" as part of the DVD brand. The AIROS logo also has a new look but still retains the WiFi signals, which were part of the logo years before WiFi became available.
The VisionMaker Video site is still in the process of being created. NAPT is continuing to look into features such as video on demand to better serve our customers.
The new website is part of NAPT's three-year plan to improve relationships with individual PBS stations, develop more marketing materials for producers and improve national visibility and reputation of NAPT.
